Our story

A family club since 2016.

Same address, same owners. Dates below come from local news and the gym’s public listings.

The gym

Blue Boy Boxing Club opened on June 6, 2016 at 400 Watertown Road in Thomaston — the address it still uses. There is no earlier Blue Boy location on record. Before the lease, Kareem Blue trained boxers while working as a physical trainer at the Litchfield Athletic Club.

In 2016, Kareem told the Town Times he wanted a place where all types of people could exercise and still get real boxing instruction. Nina Blue, co-owner, was part of that opening from the first month.

People think boxing is all about fighting. It is also confidence, focus, and strategy. That is how the gym has talked about the work from the beginning.

2016

Club opens June 6 at 400 Watertown Road. Family-owned from day one.

2020

Local coverage described a boxing gym off Route 6 with a ring, bags, and a mixed room of kids, adults, and Parkinson’s boxing fitness. The gym closed briefly for COVID-19 and reopened in May.

2026

Still a USA Boxing club. Boxers representing Blue Boy Boxing appeared in Western New England Golden Gloves competition.
